GENRAL PURPOSE RATING

This is a 6 Months GP Rating Coaching Training that one can pursue right after 10th. Students are trained in deck maintenance including navigational jobs as well as maintenance of engine room machinery and other associated technical jobs during the course of their training. Training includes subjects like English & Etiquette, Health Hazards & Personal Safety, Ships & Shipping Industry, usage of Life Saving Appliances & Fire Fighting Appliances, Safe Working Practices on Deck & in Engine Room, First Aid, Navigation & Watch Keeping, Ship’s Maintenance, Signalling, and Basic Environmental Protection. Students are given hands on training on all aspects of good seamanship practices.

 

We provide STCW 2010 approved by DG Shipping (Govt. of India) and an Indian CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate).

 

After completion of the training an exam will be conducted and successful candidates are eligible to Join the Vessel to Complete the Onboard training.

Entry Requirements: 1. 10th Pass with 50%
2. Minimum 50% marks in English subject
Age: Not less than 17½ & Not exceeding 25 years as on the date of commencement of training.
Medical Fitness: Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, with or without external aids. Maximum power permitted (+) 2.5 No. colour blindness. All candidates have to pass complete medical examination and mandatory tests prior to joining at the Academy. SMA have panel of qualified doctors and requirements as per ILO Convention 147 Seafarer’s Medical Examination.Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, with or without external aids. Maximum power permitted (+) 2.5 No. colour blindness.
Selection Procedure: SMA undertakes an Aptitude test followed by a CET of D. G. Shipping. The final selection will only take place after medical check – up through our panel Doctor, approved by D. G. Shipping Govt. of India.
Course Fees: Course Fees also includes Lodging, Boarding, Food, Medical, Insurance, VISA Documentation, Travel etc.
